All About the Math!

Shortly after I made my Addition Strategies pack, I knew that subtraction would follow soon.  I mean, we all need a little help with that tricky minus sign, right?!  Well, it only took me a year to mark this ditty off of my to-do list.  Life just sometimes gets in the way, ya know?!

But, alas, it's finally done and I *may* be ready to tackle subtraction this year (after I finish thoroughly enjoying my summer vacation that is!)

I actually had a lot of fun creating this little guy because I was finally able to channel some inner creativity.  Don't get me wrong... I'm super thankful for my handwriting and spelling units because they will save me a ton of time throughout the year BUT they were brutal to put together!

I'm going to break down what's inside, so stick with me :)

Oh, and I also have a FREEBIE for you!  Here are a few math printables that will go along great with my subtraction and addition units!

Your stuff is so awesome. I love seeing picture of you and Joelle. And.. Christmas in July... even better! I am a fairly new blogger and when I copy and paste your button it links back to my blog when I click on it. Not sure if it is a technical error on my part or if I somehow messed up your button. Either way I removed it from my blog and would love to put it back the right way! I will work on it from my end, I just wanted to make sure that your button didn't get messed up. If it somehow did, please let me know and I will pay to fix it.

I started to explore math centers last year and it seems like the direction our district is going. They are by far my (and the kids') favorite time during math! They love playing all the games and I love being able to meet in small groups with students! I will be starting off with centers right away this year!

My fav activity with my kids is creating the comparing monsters. They get two toung depressors and make a greater than or less than sign as the mouth and draw the rest of the body to go with it. Then they always put the biggest number in the mouth. We hang them in the room and they can remember the direction.

Math is my favorite subject, so I love teaching it all! Last year we jumped with both feet into CCSS, and my kiddos did really well! (Their parents, not so much!) I think my favorite part of teaching math now is adding and subtracting with regrouping while using base 10. Pretty specific ;-)
