Our Snowy Day!

Stop the world, y'all.  It's snowing in North Texas... say what??!!  We have had pretty consistent snow flurries all day.  When you NEVER get snow, it's pretty exciting :)

After being out with the stomach bug plus sinus issues, I finally made it back to school on this snowy day!  We celebrated our 100th day with a Read-In!  Our goal was to get 100 AR points as a class.  I must say, it was the perfect way to spend a snowy day... kids all over the floor, cuddled up in blankets with good books.  All kinds of nice and cozy.

Teacher Created Resources had some cute things to make our day even more eventful!  If you love all things chevron, then their products will make your heart skip a beat!  My students each got a chevron frame to keep track of how many AR tests they took and passed- they absolutely adored covering those with the chevron stickers!  I am using the chevron nameplates in our book bins.  They serve two purposes- to divide the book bins between my two classes and as a bookmark while the students are reading.
Before I was sick we started reading Tall Tales while using Hope King's unit.  I made the Paul Bunyan Can, Has, Is paper, but they loved the craft from her!  They also made John Henry and Pecos Bill while I was out :)

Oh, and for a little Snow Day/100th Day Fun, we made these cuties from A Year of Many Firsts.  I whipped these up real quick while my kiddos were reading.  We went outside to catch some snowflakes ourselves and then came back into to make these for Open House!  LOVE!
Well, I'm off to enjoy Joelle's first snow... and then I'm going to cuddle up with a warm blanket!  Happy almost Friday!

Happy snowy day, Amy! I hope your sweet daughter catches a few snowflakes today! Here in western New York State we have had quite the winter of snowstorms...yesterday i couldn't find my car in the elem. parking lot! Everything had a new eight inch blanket of snow on it. After suffering with a sinus infection myself, ugh, i am DONE with winter!!!! Give me sunshine!

You can come and have alllll the snow in my yard. I'm tired of it! Basically only had 2 1/2 days of school this week. I keep having to draw arrows to the next day in my planner haha!

Glad you're feeling better. Love your try to get 100 points on AR read in. I don't think I would get away with this at my school. The big "P" thinks independent reading time belongs at home only. Believe it or not doesn't approve of read alouds either. Maybe I can sneak in a little bit because I really think it would be great to have a class AR goal that we reach within a short amount of time.

You snow eating kids are so very cute!!! I have always thought that kids teeth remind me of perfect white chick-let gum. This art project with the chick-let teeth just makes me smile!!!!
