Maternity Leave Plans

I have been planning non-stop to get ready for my maternity leave!  That plus making all the copies for when I'm gone has pretty much worn this teacher right out.  Since we are adopting, I don't really know exactly when I will be out.  It could be within the next week or up to a month away.  So, what I'm doing right now is just getting really far ahead!  I figured that I'd share with you what's up on the agenda... who knows, maybe it'll help save you time!!!  These aren't my detailed plans, but more of what we will be covering each week and where I'm getting my materials from :)

PTL I only have to plan ELA and I have a teammate that will take care of all my math plans!

During this week we will go through the book activities that are included in my Christmas Craze unit, as well as begin our study of adjectives.  For more ideas on adjectives click {HERE}

My plan for our Penguin unit is to have students research different species of penguins in groups.  They will compile their research and answer questions for their specific penguin group.  Plus, they will be reading Tacky the Penguin books!

This week we will begin our Mystery Unit as a whole class.  We will read mystery picture books and just start out the basics with studying mysteries.

This week my students will read mystery chapter books in small groups and complete their Case File.  Students will meet together each day to read and record their findings!  I don't have anything great for synonyms and antonyms, sorry!

We will read half of Chocolate Fever this week, and finish it up next week!

Just reliving what I've been planning over the past few weeks stresses me out all over again, ha!  Hopefully I'll know soon when J will be here so that I can get everything set in stone!

You are amazing! I wish I could be that far ahead! I feel like things always take so long, or so little time that I never have that much extra! Plus math and science and social studies and handwriting all in the mix - not to mention two grade levels! Great job and I am so excited to hear more about your adoption..

I tell all my friends and family about you like we're friends because I admire you so much! Thank you for being such an inspiration, such an amazing person and I am SURE - such an amazing Mom! Your success, drive and achievements have been an enormous motivator in my life!

Best of luck in everything!

You are WAY planned out! I bet that feels amazing!!! Planning for maternity leave IS stressful, but it is wonderful to be home with your own kiddos and know that everything is taken care of at school.

I am so impressed! I am trying to plan for my maternity leave too! But I am having a MUCH more difficult time staying focused! Although I am not adopting, my little one could arrive in as little as a few weeks or a month away. So cool to see what you're planning on having your kiddos do while your out! Thank you for the GREAT ideas!

Good luck! As a fellow mother due to adoption (my daughter was born on January 8, 2010) I say welcome to the club! Good luck!!!

Congrats on your upcoming bundle! I'm confused....where we teach we leave long-range plans for leaves, like 3D geometry but we don't actually photocopy and leave day by day lessons. That would be so overwhelming. Is that a requirement in your district? How great for the supply teacher that is coming in! :)
