Looking towards the future...

Just to warn you... this blog post is all.over.the.place!

As the school year is drawing to a close (1 1/2 more days with the students to be exact!), I am starting to think about next year.  If you would have asked me last week, I would have told you that I'm doing all that I can to make it through this year without thinking about my future classroom plans, BUT today I felt a little refreshed and revived after our long weekend.  Our school is going to have a sports/olympics theme next year, so I decided to get busy making some things for that!  I don't do my whole classroom in the theme, but I add some things here and there to bring a little life to our school-wide fun!

I made these little table numbers that I hung from the ceiling.  I decided to top them with paper flowers (that were a little MORE than frustrating to make, and came out a lot LESS than perfect!).

I also cleaned out my table buckets and put new labels to fit our sports theme!

You can download the table numbers and bucket labels HERE and HERE for free :)  I'm sorry if you have more than 5 tables, but that's all that I made.

I also made these little Olympians that I will probably put on my outside bulletin board.  Maybe, just maybe, I'll finish that board this week so I can post about it also!

As an end of the year project, I had my kiddos work in collaborative groups to discuss/draw/write about a 3rd grader.  I gave them a large sheet of butcher paper and they got to work!  They were supposed to mention things about how a 3rd grader acts, what they do, how 3rd graders are different from 2nd graders, and so on.

In other news...

Don't you just LOVE getting mail?!  Well, I sure do!  I ordered some books from The Clever School Teacher.  I love how the books are set up into different categories/sets for you already.  For example, I really want to improve my unit on inferring, so I found a set up books that were specific to that comprehension skill... GENIUS!

You can find the inferring set that I purchased HERE!

Oh, and I forgot to mention (and I can't believe I didn't do this sooner!!!), my husband and I have been matched with a beautiful little girl that is 2 1/2 years old.  We cannot wait to bring her home (hopefully by Christmas!)!!  I can't share her name or pictures with you, because we want to protect our baby as much as possible, BUT I can promise you that she is PERFECT in every way!  If you read my personal blog, I'm sure you are already caught up on this info, but I hope to blog over there this summer with the progression of getting our house and her room ready for our baby!

Hi Amy,

So happy for you on the news of you new little girl! I was just wondering how you adhere your labels to the sides of your table buckets. I also label mine but I have not had much luck with hot glue or packing tape. Just thought I would see what you did. Thanks!

Hey Amy! I know I already commented on your post, but I just wanted to let you know my most recent blog post is about the fraction pizzas my class made from your TpT product! I posted some pictures of their final products; they loved it! Thanks for sharing all your ideas!

Not sure if you'll get this since the post was about a year ago.

Can you tell me where you got your awesome clipart and font for the sports theme? I was thinking about using them for my room this coming year. Like most teachers, I'm a little bit OCD about things matching.

Thanks so much!

Can you tell me which font you used for the table signs, or if you happened to make a Team 6 since you posted these?

Thanks so much!!
